Great - thank you. I do notice that there are a lot more gold - For instance the top of the Arc de Triomphe de Carousel has gold painted figures now. Like this fence

Your photo is the Place de la Concorde entrance to the Tuileries. The top of the Arc de Triomphe du Carousel has had the gold figures at least since 1996. I have photos from 1996 up to this year and except for the quality of the camera and pictures, they are the same.

The fences are certainly more dramatic. All that black can be depressing . . .

Thank you. In my photos of the Arc de Triomphe du Carousel in 1964 there were no gold figures. I don't have a photo from 1950

I am matching up photos - here is my latest effort.

That is fun. I have photos of Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud from 1996, 2006 and 2016. The very top of the kitchens is suddenly missing on the 2016 photo but is definitely there in 1996 and 2006. I wonder what happened to it? Comparing photos over the years is great fun and sometimes the changes are surprising.

I am not sure when I started doing this - it was an accident I think. On several trips recently I have printed the photos out and deliberately tried to replicate them.

But I'm not sure how to show the results on this site. There's no real way that I can see except to either add to a blog or put it into a post.

I kind of tucked it into one of my blogs on the western Loire. https://paysdelaloirebeau.travellerspoint.com/9/ If you scroll down, you come to the photos taken in 1996, 2006 and 2016. I had them in a Travelogue on Virtual Tourist. We do go back to visit places so I have quite a few before and after shots. The most fun was the very first chateau we ever saw and had no idea which one it was. Many years later we were driving along the Loire and saw the exact same shot and knew it was Chaumont. Live and learn . . .

I looked at your photos and they are great - but I did it on another browser so I wasn't logged in and couldn't comment
