So do I understand right: If I klick on YOUR profile I'll see a button to report YOU???
I tried it but on your profile also I cannot see any botton. I could write you a private message, that's all.

If you cannot see a "Report Member" link it means even that is a function for respected members - my mistake.

That link would be under the button you would use to send me a message.

...and you can simply report a user in their profile, as already mentioned. That is not as effective as reporting a post due to spam, but still.

In fact I think the "report member" is rather more of a nuclear button than flagging a post. Us mere moderators deal with the flagged posts, and we can just edit or delete them. A reported member goes to admin and usually seems to result in "deactivated member".

...We use report member to get a repeat spammer attended to.

That's right.

It appears on the left of their profile immediately under "add friend".

It would help a lot if I know how many posts I have to have. But obviously nobody can tell me that.

The algorithm behind member ranks is purposefully not revealed. It takes all activity on the site into account (not just forum posts), as well as time spent (posting 1000 forum posts in a single day won't make you an instant travel guru, as that would enable abuse), as well as overall activity from everyone else, which your activity is seen in relation to.
The algorithm is far from perfect, and every so often we see someone who clearly should be going up the ranks, not yet doing so. But generally that still happens a few weeks later anyway, and in total, member status is a relatively decent reflection of reality.
Respected Member and Travel Guru status can also be lost over time if you stop participating.

FWIW, the "average" number of posts at which people go up from "Budding Member" to "Full Member" tends to lie somewhere between 100 and 150. Again, though, it's not the post count itself which does that. (I've seen Respected Members who'd never posted in the forums at all.) It's just that around the time most people will have posted that many times, they'll have amassed enough overall participation over a long enough time, for the threshold to be reached.

OK, thank you.
As I'm only activ in the Forum, don't have a blog, don't upload fotos I'd have to wait a long time I think.

The reason the reporting functions are only available to the higher level members is because it actually has a pretty limiting effect on what the reported member can do until the report is dealt with.

When a forum post has been flagged, they won't be able to post any more forum entries until it's dealt with. When a member has been reported, they won't be able to much of anything.

For this reason, it has to be limited to a pretty select group of people. Respected Member status is not particularly easy to get, which means that by the time people hit that status we are usually quite familiar with who they are.

On the spam in the groups - that's a known problem. The groups are mostly pretty quiet places anyway which kind of makes me tempted to remove the feature entirely. Either that or something drastic has to change about them. For now my focus is on changes to the home page and adding the ability to add tips for places to visit, so it will be a while till I can bring myself to deal with the groups. In the meanwhile you can always drop me a private message if you notice some spam in the groups that isn't dealt with.

Sorry it was an English idiom - "join the club" means "we are the same".

Oh, thank you. English is not my mother language so I don't understand sometimes not the right. lol

But now I don't understand why you "are the same". You are the Moderator and you do have the possibility to flagg some posts or to delete it.
Do I have at least 1620 posts as you till I get the possibility to flagg.? :):):)
