I'll add some links to the stats in the side menu :)

Alright, all done. There are 2 new links in there. One to the stats page and one to the Who's Online? page which will only show if you are logged in.

They are right down the bottom of the menu so not prominent, but accessible enough :)

Perfect - thanks Peter!

Got it - now made the new homepage my default homepage!

Well, I bit the bullet and made this new home live for everyone.

There are plenty of things still left to do, but I feel like it's a big enough improvement that it's worth getting everyone on to it.

Also, a new home page is up for when you're not logged in. The main goal there is obviously to get people logged in / signed up, so I've adjusted the focus accordingly. it's quite different to how it used to be.

Since this is a fairly large change, please do let me know if you come across issues. I'm sure you will :)

It's not an issue but I'm curious why I always see the same featured photo at the top of my home page. It's a nice photo, taken by one of my friends, but it's been there for ages and I'd like a change Could this be set to change periodically? Or is there a way we can change it ourselves?

I love the subtle animation in the header image here!

I think you should add some kind of updating information on this new homepage. It can be very minimal, but a strip of recently featured photos and two short lists of three recently featured forum threads / blog posts would make it feel much more dynamic and inviting to have a look around. Right now you're telling visitors what they can do on this site, but hardly showing any of it.

Missing hover/focus styling in the header section means it's really hard to tell that the three list items on the left are links (only the cursor change makes this obvious, compared to your regular text links below the header, which have great hover styling). The buttons on the right also need some kind of hover/focus styling, though at least they're more obviously clickable through their general shape.

Everywhere where you have :hover styling (a:hover, .link-list li a:hover, ...?), PLEASE add the same selector with :focus, as right now keyboard navigation doesn't indicate a single link as having focus, and that's really bad for accessibility. (Worse, you explicitly remove the browser built-in outline on :focus, which you really should only do if you provide a better alternative.) This same problem appears on the regular site as well (e.g. the menu at the top of this page, the username and report/quote/edit, etc links on posts, etc)

I'd also expect the four coloured circles with numbers of members, blog posts, trips and photos to link through to those sections.

The footer feels like a complete afterthought with the way links are left aligned there.

For the logged in users homepage both :focus and :hover styling are missing for pretty much everything.

Additionally, a much older problem which I never noticed before, but the way you've implemented the sidebar, tabbing through links first goes through all links in the sidebar, without that sidebar popping into view, so that's really confusing.

Haha yes, definitely on my to-do list to allow some way of changing that or just cycling through a few different photos at least. I think changing it to something of your choice would be ideal. Or something related to your upcoming trips perhaps?

And thanks for all the feedback too Sander. I'll work through some of those issues :)
