[quote]Also, I can't make the map accept a location on the Saone River in France - it won't accept the name of the town, and it won't accept the GPS location either.

Is this when adding a tip on the new home page? You can't search by location in there like in the maps. You search by point of interest (ie.. hotel, restaurant, park, attraction etc), or if the point of interest can't be found - you can add it as a new one. I'm also still building out the list of points of interest that will be available so there are definitely plenty of locations missing, especially restaurants as I can't seem to find a good open source database of those.

I can't figure out where to search for a point of interest on the home page. Can I add a tip for a hotel, or just for something like Ste. Chapelle?

Also, I can't make the map accept a location on the Saone River in France - it won't accept the name of the town, and it won't accept the GPS location either.

This just adding a location on the map of a trip. I am going up the Saone River to a place at N 45.82247 E 4.85465 -- a place called Collonges-au-mont-d'Or. I can't get the map to accept GPS or the name, and it won't accept Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or either. I type in the name and I get nothing. The only thing I can get anywhere near is Limonest.

--------------
Figured out finally that it was the new Home Page that I should be looking at.

If I upload a photo to a tip, is there any way that I can fix the caption?

If I make a tip about something where the photos are not in the last 50 pictures I uploaded, how can I get to those photos?

There will be. The ability to edit tips is just not ready yet.

The photos loaded are those that are nearest to the point of interest you are leaving a tip for. So long as your photos are geocoded that should mean that the most relevant ones are always at the top. I'll look at adding another way of finding them as well, but for now just making sure the location of the photos is set should pretty much ensure they are always shown in the list of photos to choose from for your point of interest.

Regarding adding locations that don't show up easily - what you can do is add the nearest location you can find, ie Limonest. Then on the next screen (where you add the stop details) you can actually move the marker on the map to where it should be. And you can change the place name to what it should be as well. Hit save and you have the new location added :) You can only do this while adding a new stop.

I made a new tip for Sacre Coeur, but two of the photos that I wanted were not in the last 50, because I added a whole lot of photos for Paris over several days. So I just uploaded the ones I wanted again.

I then recycled an old VT tip for Santo Domingo, and before I added the photos, I went and titled them before I uploaded them. They didn't upload in the correct order though so I guess I will have to be more careful about that.

That worked to put the pointer in the right place but it still says Limonest

I saw the Sacre Coeur tip in the database. Actually the problem there is a bit different - the Sacre Coeur you selected is a hotel by that name rather than the church. I realise that's a bit of a flaw in the system because a) the Sacre Coeur you'd expect to see doesn't pop up and b) it's a little hard to tell that it's chosen a hotel (there's a small icon with a bed and that's it). The result of that would have been that its location was not at the correct spot and consequently any photos that were mapped to the Sacre Coeur would not necessarily show up correctly.

I'll look at making it a little more obvious what type of point of interest you are selecting. And also make sure that Sacre Coeur does in fact pop up as the first choice.

Re: the custom place in your trip. Did you try changing the location name when you changed the marker? Actually you can still change that. You need to click in to Edit Stop Details and then just edit the name of the stop. Hope it helps :)

OK thanks.

I was looking at hotels thinking I would make a tip on the one we stayed at, but it was too confusing. No I didn't try editing the name of the place - Duh should have thought of that.
