What is cold? I mean I will be coming from Canada...cold might not be TOO much of a problem. Will there be snow covered roads?

It usually stopped snowing in or before April but there's usually snow on the ground.
Do a google search for April weather Leh for temps.
I'm sure the weather would be bearable compared to Canada but only if you want to travel with winter wear.
Also although the speeds aren't high, wind chill on a bike will make it feel colder.
If you're planning to visit hot areas as well then you'll need 2 lots of clothing, which is a real pain when travelling.

Hey, All the best for your journey! Keep traveling and make memories. Is Palampur not your choice? You should visit Palampur at least once.

Thanks for your post.
Have been travelling since a decade on the Himalayas and indeed visited Palampur which is a wonderful place.I also recommend people to visit it and many of the foreign travelers have done it in the past through my recommendation and praised the beauty of the place.

HI,

I am coming to visit from Canada in April and wondering if anyone is going up Leh/ Ladakh way and is looking for a companion on their pillion. I am a woman, and therefore looking for someone safe and who can be verified prior to the arrangement. I would really love to experience this adventure with someone who has knowledge and is safe.

Please let me know ,

Wanderlust Nimincible!

April is still an off season. Will share details on this...As I have even been to the border areas of the country taking special permission during winter time so its slightly difficult and hard for foreign nationals.

Cheers

April and wondering if anyone is going up Leh/ Ladakh way!

The weather up there is usually still cold in April.
May-September are the better months.

Thanks for the additional info.
You seem to have travelled to ladakh and have a good knowledge about the destination but would like to make a small correction "May till Oct" is the best time to travel the ladakh region.

Well no need to Google about the place as you will find different views but as I have a first hand experience travelling in different months.
April still has On and Off snowfall and the BRO only clears the highway by mid of may.
So you CAN'T travel in the month of APRIL on a Motorbike.

No I haven't, but I had planned to do it with friends in 2007.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to do it but my friends did.
I hate the cold so we'd planned on July/August (which is when they went).

I didn't keep my notes but I remember the info I found said that travelling during the month of April and the month of October were a gamble.
I said the weather usually changes early-April and Mid-October but can start earlier or later.

Some weather sites give actual historic weather figures for the region, so I'd strongly recommend people check them and then make their decisions based on fact rather than someone they've never met on the internet.

Thank you all for your response. I guess I will have to wait till next year to do this trip then. I have to be in Hyderabad for my best friends surprise 40th, in April, so waiting out till June / July , which seems to be the best time for this will not be feasible this year.
Thanks much for all your information and advises.
