Hi
Im planning to travel from UK to Geneva for the first time in November. Can anyone recommend a website guide that lists really authentic non touristy places , ive check out a few and they just talk about the jet of water and lake cruises. Is a long weekend enough?, or should I be booking a week.
Also is Switzerland really as expensive as everyone says?

Many thanks for feedback.

Can't help much with the website guide though I strongly suspect that all 'authentic, non-touristy places' quickly stop being so once they are publicised on the internet.

From my own experience, yes. Eating out, hotels, food, alcohol, transport fares & entrances were all more expensive than the UK and most of the other European countries I've visited (I've been to all the EU countries plus a fair number of non-EU European countries), perhaps on a par with Denmark, Iceland and the Scandanavian countries?

The Numbeo data for Geneva is worth a look. I've found it a pretty reliable guide to living costs (and it's regularly updated):

I really liked my visit to Geneva several years ago But Switzerland is expensive. The entire country is so beautiful though I never complain about the cost when I visit. I don't know of any web sites that could help you specifically. In comparison from my personal experience I found Norway and Denmark a bit more expensive that Switzerland. But still it's quite pricey.

We enjoyed the Old Town area and the Beaux Arts. Geneva is a very popular tourist spot so you won't escape tourists anyplace. Just realize you are a tourists too and enjoy the city. Here is a Geneva Tourist Office web site. https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-us/destinations/geneva/

Enjoy a fascinating city.
