I clearly haven't been able to solve this just yet.

There is a workaround for embedding Youtube videos if you can't sync.

When you are inserting a video into your blog, instead of selecting Option 1 where you can pick from the synced videos, select Option 2.

Then select Youtube as the provider and follow the instructions there to insert the video's ID.

That way of embedding should still work fine.

I guess this isn't going to solve the Flickr issue so I'll carry on with Vimeo for now but it would be good to be able to swap some time soon so I can cancel that subscription. At the moment I'm paying for both that and Flickr Pro (which I want to keep as I use it for photos too) - oh, and TravellersPoint too

my work around which does work as I have just uploaded and published my blog in the Thailand section for Wat Chalong!

Go to the blogs

select the blog you want to create a new one in

(In my case it was Thailand)

Before clicking on the Blog title, click "New Entry"

Then in the header bar above the text box click on the "video film looking icon"

A pop up box appears-

Then select YouTube from the drop down providers

Then insert only the last part of the video ID, example ; 0KY_-3z1mSE, NOT the whole URL or it won't work

Click insert

voila it should be in the text box

click "show preview" and the video will show up in full!

click publish and it works just like before!

Hope this helps

Annette

I've just made some updates to the Flickr embed system.

Unfortunately it's far from perfect.

It will embed your video, but it will generally speaking just create what looks like a video player, but what actually is just a link back to Flickr.

I did find it sometimes worked - with videos that I tested that were in the Public Domain. So I don't know if it's a setting on Flickr somewhere that you can tweak to maybe allow embedded videos? There was some discussion about this on the Flickr forums here

Anyway, if anyone wants to use the Flickr embed give it a go. It's at least something.
