The cost of any flight overseas depends on when you go, where you sit (Ex. First Class vs Economy seats) and the month you need the ride and the airline you choose. For Thailand there is "high season" pricing for hotels and some long distance flights. This is late November through early February. Closer to Christmas and New Years Eve is most expensive.

For Thailand, rainy and hot season is cheapest for accommodation. The cost of your flights depends on where you fly from and the month you fly. Only you know this! So fill out your profile and include more data. From North America, when school lets out in June, there is a little spike in the cost of plane tickets to Asia. The price goes down late August and September when kids go back to school.

Any test booking using the website of a major airline can give you prices. Vary the departure date and see if price changes.

If you are traveling long distance, perhaps the Americas or Europe, round trip will probably be cheaper than buying long distance one way flights. But you have to do the math!

My suggestion is that you DO NOT mix airlines to save a dollar or two here and there! Stay with the same airline company from home airport to Asia and return home. Using the same company from departure to final arrival city - and there is a delay, a cancellation or some screw up - the the company will take care of you! When mixing airlines no one cares if your connecting flight is late or cancelled, not their problem!

When you try to save a penny here and there you may end up paying more in the end!

Up to you to pull out your laptop and hit the keys. (If only doing research on a phone see if your research makes more sense when you switch to a laptop or desktop computer.)

Good luck.

Besides some places in Vietnam mentioned above, you should add Ninh Binh, Sapa and Phong Nha cave into your itinerary.
For further places, do some research on Travelfish site.
