Oh, almost forgot, warmshowers.org lists free couches where people will let you sleep.

You can also bring a tent and camp on public campgrounds, for a small fee.

Rental cars, especially if they are returned to a different place can be as high as $70 a day. Being able to work in the US is not easy, too many restrictions.

I would love to go on a road trip around America once the pandemic is over. I really want to add more coins to my collection. I've heard national parks have their own collectible coins.

I have a NP Passport Book in which I get stamp (the old fashioned rubber stamp kind of stamps, not postage type stamps) and that is free (for the stamps). The National Park Passport booklet costs about $10.00. I got mine when I purchased my Golden Passport which gives elderly people free admission to the NP's, but anyone can buy them.

But the collectable coins are issued by the US Mint and are not at the NPs as far as I know. They were a part of the series issued for each of the States, and if you wanted them you would have to find them in your change or buy the from a coin dealer.

The USA National Parks have collectible coins but they are called tokens. They even have a book for the tokens. Each book holds 30 tokens (coins). The tokens are $1 each. Click here for information on National Park collectibles

The USA quarter-dollar coins are available from collectors and stores catering to collectors but they are much more expensive and not available at the National Parks.

I had never heard of the tokens - I'm happy to be corrected and informed

They are fun to collect.
