I'm going to be traveling to Whitehorse on business in mid June and I'm thinking of tacking a few days onto the trip as a little vacation while I'm there. What are some good things to do and see in that area, I'm mostly interested in outdoor activities. I will have a rental car so I can drive to someplace nearby if need be.

Thanks for the tips.

You could drive the Alaska Highway down to Teslin. It's a beautiful drive and the Tlingit Heritage Center is on the way. Click here for the Tlingit Heritage Center web site

You would be driving along the Yukon River. Whitehorse is the Yukon capital so lots to do there. Great souvenir shops and the S.S. Klondike National Historic Site with the Sternwheeler you can visit. You could easily drive down to Miles Canyon or hike the Miles Canyon Loop. There are also Yukon River Tours that would probably be fun although I've not done that.

If you like the outdoors, you are going to the right place. It is spectacularly beautiful in the area. Enjoy.

It depends on how many days you'll have.
So you can drive to Dawson City (It's a long day of driving). It's a very interesting small city from the Gold Rush.

Nearby you can make a small detour to the Dempster Highway, maybe to Tombstone Territorial Park

Or, on the way to Dawson you can make a detour from Steward Crossing to Mayo and Keno City, also small cities of the Gold Rush.
