Good day travelers

I am going to Aruba with a group of friends in 2 weeks time. Right now we are trying to figure out transportation. My main question is how do taxis work? Do they accept American dollars? Is it cash only or do they take credit cards? Do they charge by the mile, hour, or destination?

It is 9 of us so renting a car isn't really feasible.

Thanks all

The taxis in Aruba as in most of the Caribbean charge by the destination or by the time. So you go to the driver and say, How much to go from here to the lighthouse, and they will quote you a rate. The rates are set by the government. US dollars are widely accepted.

If you want them to wait or to have a tour the hourly rate is $45 USD per hour. The rate is per taxi, not per person, and there is a maximum of 5 people per taxi, but you might be able to hire or rent a limo or van that would take 9 people
