I would consider Apulia in Southern Italy. There are several flights to Bari from many cities in Italy and abroad (for example, I live in Munich and there are direct flights from Munich).
Bari is a lovely town, the center has a very strong Arabian look and feel.
From there I would visit some of the lovely villages on the coast and on the Inland (Alberobello is the most famous, but there are many others).
In Alberobello you can even spend a night or two in a Trullo (it is the typical local accommodation... a kind of a "hut" - really cute). We spent two nights in a Trullo in November (so it was out of season) and the price was very reasonable. It was an experience I really enjoyed.

And from there you can go to Matera, a fantastic town you will fall in love with.

Definitely this is Greece. I have long wanted to visit Athens. This center of ancient Greek civilization, which was famous for its power in the era of antiquity. Climb the Acropolis and see the Parthenon Temple

We stay home when everyone else is having horrible weather. If you want to escape, come visit California, USA. It's nearly always nice here and if you want snow, you can go up into the mountains. San Diego probably has the best weather in the state, but most of the state is lovely most of the time . . . except we do have droughts which is nice for tourists but not so nice for those of us who live here.

We have thought of going north when it gets truly hot in the deep summer, but we like to stay near our garden to make sure it doesn't dry out so we stay home then too. Spring and autumn are nice nearly everywhere so that's when we travel. But escaping our weather usually isn't a problem.

So my question is this, if you were me, where would you go if you were seeking refuge from the rain and awful weather?

We would travel to Corfu, Greece. :) It's our dream destination...
Happy trails, everybody!

A lot of good ideas! :)

Italy I have visited and am definitely not against going again!

About Greece I have heard a lot good.

Victor, what appeals to you the most about Corfu? :)

I would love to visit California, it's on my list but I think week isn't enough and not just becouse of the long flight! And if I would live there I don't know how much I would be travelling anywhere else either

On the off chance that I were you and lived in Finland, I may go to Iceland (which is a spot I have for the longest time been itching to visit and they have natural aquifers) or to Bermuda (one of my preferred spots to go). Bermuda is costly yet February is as quite a bit of a slow time of year as they have. On the off chance that I was going to pick a spot in the Caribbean to go, I'd take a gander at Barbados.

I fully understand why you would like to visit Iceland, it's somewhere I would like to go too! The nature there is something IMO you would need to see once in your life. Still mostly pristine :)

Hey everyone! :)

I wanted to start an hypothetical conversation about travel destinations because I am currently suffering from an nasty travel fever..Or if to be honest, it's quite wholetime temperature but this time of the year it is more intense than in summertime :)

In the place I work it is difficult for me to get more than an week off during the winter.

I am living in Finland.
And before you say anything about winter..This winter there has been almost non snow, strong winds and lot of rains, rain as in water or sleet, but not snow.

So my question is this, if you were me, where would you go if you were seeking refuge from the rain and awful weather?

Olu Deniz, Turkey.
Beautiful destination, loads of culture and super affordable too. I would recommend staying in the Ovacik or Fethiye area as it is easy enough to travel around and down into the hustle and bustle of Olu Deniz.
