Hi there,
Might try to plan a trip to the east coast of Canada for most of July. We (my husband and I ) will have 3 weeks to spend there and want to choose wisely. Thinking of flying into Ottawa to visit some family there and then taking a train to Quebec to spend some time there poking about and then??? There is so much to see and do there I am slightly overwhelmed. Do we rent a car from Quebec and drive out east? Do we fly to Nova Scotia ? We are not on a strict budget but I would like to do this on a shoestring as much as possible. If anyone has a route that they could recommend it would be so helpful in planning this trip.

Considering your flight to Ottawa, then the train to Quebec, I'd certainly consider renting a car in order to make my way east to Nova Scotia - a good way to round out the trip? Make this portion a bit of a road trip and have a few loose days to let things fall into place as they may.

That's what I was thinking too but I wanted it to be a vacation for all involved (the driver especially) so not really sure of driving times. Also places of interest along the way is always an adventure for sure!

After Ottawa and Quebec, how much time do you envision will be left in your 3-week trip? Are you flying back home from Ottawa, or from the east coast?

I think flying back in and out of Ottawa but havent booked any flights as of yet. I envision being on the road after that for about 10 days. Hmm that begs the question why not fly out of Nova Scotia or somewhere east right??
