Anyone interested in experiencing Mongolian Lunar New Year this year? How possible do you feel it will be with the Coronavirus going on at the moment? I know the border with China is closed but flights from Seoul still seem ok right?

Well my understanding is that Chinese people generally don’t travel to Mongolia, not compared to south east Asia Europe and North America. I think it’s something like 350,000 Chinese students study in the USA whilst (after a quick look up) Mongolia only had 500,000 total visitors in 2019.
Looking at the stats at the moment Mongolia hasn’t been flagged up with the virus but I guess it’s inevitable for everywhere. I’m still tempted to travel through Seoul but just wondering whether there is a chance the festivals in Mongolia will get cancelled. I also heard there is an ice festival in the north at the beginning of March

Looks like China is at the top of some lists for going to Mongolia over previous years. Guess it depends on what charts you look at.
You also have to account for other travelers from various countries who first visited China and then went on to Mongolia.
I don't think this virus thing will end right away. If a symptom doesn't show up for 2 weeks that person comes in contact with a lot of other people during that time.
