People have asked me whether I think spanish or English is easier to learn, and I think, along with most people I've asked that Spanish is easier.
But what do you guys think? What is the easist language to learn, Spanish, English or something else?

I definitely would not think English. Check this out (originally posted by Cupcake):

On a serious note, I've often been told that Spanish is a lot easier to learn than English. Perhaps there are too many inconsistencies in English. Of course, it is a mixture of other langauges (mostly European).
Of course, Spanish is one of the romance languages (as in Roman & Latin)
I would also like to know the EASIEST to learn. They all seem so difficult to me. German has the immposible grammer and gender stuff (one word can have like 20 different variations). English we've sort of talk about the lack of consistancy. The languages with other alphabets, forget it.
My GUESS would be that Spanish is one of the easier languages to learn.
I am studying French in school, and I've also been trying to teach myself Spanish. Between the two, Spanish seems so much easier! (Perhaps it's because I already have the background in French, but it seems a lot easier to comprehend...) Also, alot of my friends who have switched from French to Spanish, say that Spanish is alot easier... but who knows!!

i think just to learn some basics of a language english is quite easy. after a couple of months you'll be fine and you can small-talk to everybody. the reason therefore is probably because its THE world language and its all the time around us, so we are all a bit used to it.
but as well the grammar isnt very difficult.
with spanish ( its like portugues and thats what i learnt ) the first couple of months studying the grammar and some vocabulary are hard, because its different from your motherlanguage.
But to speak a proper spanish is easier than a proper english. The english has a lack of rules, that the spanish does not have. that makes it quite difficult for the student to be fluent.
i think thats also the point why learning german is difficult. it takes a long , hard and difficult time to study all the 100000s grammar rules, but as soon as you have them all learnt you speak a very good german.

I definitely agree with you, Moritz. German language with its thousands rules (like you wrote) is difficult, really difficult, but it needs just time to understand it and the effect will come

Couldn't you German guys just do away with all that Gender stuff. Just make all nouns Neutral and with the same endings...Please
Icelandic has the gender thing as well and we have 4 conjugations of every noun, most of which are irregular.
