Cairns/Brisbane on WHV, Regional work & Triathlon training?

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific Cairns/Brisbane on WHV, Regional work & Triathlon training?

So after working in Europe for 7 years, I returned to the UK in early December, and left with no intention of going back, having sold my car & a lot of belongings etc. I have been in Thailand for 3 months and am now planning my onward travel to Australia. I am currently 28 and have my 417 visa so would like to go straight in with regional work to apply for a 2nd year Visa. I have chosen Cairns (Or Brisbane) primarily as I presume it's better for the winter, and I need to be around to race IRONMAN on the 7th June.

My primary goal is this race as I plan to qualify for the World Champs in Taupo. Would I be better off picking up hospitality/city work, in which I can train for 3 months before the race, and then do the farm work (Rather than isolating myself a bit, and not being able to swim or cycle as much)

Main questions are:

-What is Cairns like for picking up work / farm work this time of year?
-What are the roads like around there for road cycling, coastal, flat, many hilly routes?
-Triathlon Training: I plan to race Ironman Cairns on the 7th June, are there many facilities within the local vicinity that cater towards my hobby (Such as swimming pools, running tracks, gym's etc) and bicycle shops?
-Also, a friend suggested Noosa, as this is where a lot of the pro Triathlete's train. Would it be better to visit this after June, once the farm work is complete, where in I can travel down the East coast towards other destinations I would like to visit? Are there regional farm opportunities here? OR I travel to here first and train (alongside work), and then aim to head north towards Cairns in June for farm work (If it's still peak farming season there?)

Many thanks in advance, trying to get my head around everything before I fly next week!
