Would it be too difficult for Fergy just to join TP so she could comment on your blogs?

Fergy (who is a man btw - Planxty on VT) is just one example. As it happens he did join TP when VT closed but later decided to set up his own Word Press blog so has drifted away and forgotten log in details etc. I'm sure he could get Peter to get him restarted here but that's not really my point. I'm very keen that any non member whom I approve through moderation should be allowed to comment on any of my blogs at any time and I can't see an issue with that so long as I'm an active member myself as shown through my supporter's subscription :)

Sarah, I see you haven't gotten an answer yet. Have you thought of simply messaging Peter? That might be the easiest way to contact him.

Just a thought.

You're right, I should - and will!

I messaged Peter but haven't had a reply, and when I checked just now my message still hasn't been read. That's not like him - does anyone know if he's OK?

When the site had massive slowdowns a week and a half ago, I used my emergency contact for him, and got a reply the next day, but he hasn't replied to my email from a week before that about bug report threads that needed his input. I can't begin to guess what's up, but I imagine it's in some way related to the corona situation, and then I just hope it's simply "overwhelmed with kids at home" rather than "family member in hospital".

I also imagine his income from this site has been reduced to zero, as no one will be booking accommodation or taking out travel insurance, so that probably also means that we're not his highest priority right now.

To be extra clear: All of this is complete speculation. I have no real idea.

Understood. If you do hear from him please let me know - my query can wait but I'm concerned to hear all is OK

Hey all, sorry for my absence of late.

Sander pretty much summed it up with the "overwhelmed with kids at home" diagnosis. Everyone here is healthy. We're very fortunate to be living in a country that has so far gotten through this quite easily. But being at home with kids all day just sucks my motivation to do work big time, even though I of course quite like my kids. Maybe I enjoy hanging around them too much.. :) Looks like they'll be going back to school in a couple of weeks which will free up lots of my time again.

I'm working on some server stuff for Travellerspoint at the moment which has been a long time coming. Hopefully it all goes smoothly, but just a heads up that there may be a bit of bumpiness as a result.

And yes, in theory totally open to extending that comment time limit. It's only there to guard against spam, but so far that's proven a relatively small problem in the blogs.

It's good to know you're OK Peter, and that it was 'only' the kids distracting you from work

It would be great if you could see your way to extending (or removing?) the comment limit time, at least for trusted/supporting members. I promise to keep on top of any spam! Interestingly, the few times I've had that it has been from people who've joined TP in order to promote their business / strange views / dodgy websites, not from external posters
