Quoting Brilin

Bob, perhaps you can answer my IHG question on another thread.

Sorry, did I miss something on IHG, @brilin

My thread IHG Status question in travel forums. Into would be gratefully received!

Bob, are you OK? You have, very unusually, been very quiet of late.

Hi All and back at ya Brightly Bob and other former Insiders! Hope you are all doing well in these crazy times!

Thinking of Bob today. I miss him - his humor, his knowledge and his advice.
He helped me plan my cancelled trip to London for the 2020 Open at Royal St George's.
We rebooked it for St Andrews next year. Staying at the same hotels he recommended.
Struggling to decide of I should buy the plane tix now or wait due to this uncertain world.
Will travel in 2022 be any better? Will we still be masking? Testing? Booster shots?
Wish I had a crystal ball.
Wish I could go back in time and have one last convo with Bob to tell him just how much he meant to me.

Hope there's still some MRI Refugee's out here! I miss our old message board.

Surprised to get a notice of activity here - I had forgotten all about this. My fault, of course, though doesn't look like any activity lately.

I'm sorry, I didn't bring a crystal ball either. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing -- I'm not particularly afraid of hotel stays but the surrounding travel may be a little more difficult or risky plus many hotels themselves are no longer the experience one would desire anyhow.

I've cancelled my fall travel plans yet again. I kinda feel like Charlie Brown getting ready to kick the ball that Lucy's holding.
I've been following pandemic new case numbers in Ohio daily as they continue to grow. If I'm looking into a crystal ball, I bet my state hits 10,000 new cases within the next week. Last time we peaked around 11K new cases per day, so I'm hoping to see the trend reverse before the end of the year. Then again, I've just been following Ohio's numbers.
I was sooooo looking forward to a Seattle trip last fall. I never met Bob in person, but I was really looking forward to sharing a pint with such a smart and cheerful fellow Insider. When I'm willing to travel again, I'll raise a glass in his honor.

Thanks Budding Member and Better Days for responding.

We've done 3 hotel stays so far this year but all local - Keene NH in April, Providence RI in June and Boston the end of July for my nephews wedding. We have 2 more weddings in Boston - October and November.

Vax rates up here are around 75%. That said I know 2 fully vaxxed friends who have had breakthrough COVID, but one was in health care.

Got a new CC to get the stays needed to ensure Titanium for next year. It comes with travel insurance so I may go ahead and book the airline tickets with that.

I do hate that allergies are kicking up during a surge! Glad I invested in a pulse oximeter. Best $15 I ever spent.

Hoping we can have a TIPPLE at some point where we remember and raise a pint to Bob. There was talk of possibly having it at Disney and his family attending. Guess we have to wait a bit longer.

Stay safe and sane you too. Blessings!

I'd love an opportunity to meet all the Insiders who regularly posted to the forum. A trip to Disney is very doable after the pandemic subsides!
