Quoting Beausoleil

I did a little better on this list, 46. For me that's fantastic. I may meet you on a trip someday . . . if you ever repeat yourself.

We very rarely repeat ourselves but would be great to meet you one day!

I finally decided to join NomadMania and go through its list of 1,281 global regions; and so far it shows I've been to nearly 41 percent.

It's a worthwhile and illuminating exercise because you have to document where you've been, so I've been combing though photos and travel records, including diaries that I used to construct my Travellerspoint maps. The maps offer a comprehensive view of where I've traveled.

NomadMania reminded me that while I've been to 48 of the 50 U.S. states (except for Arkansas and North Dakota) it also showed a glaring omission: I somehow missed Western Pennsylvania, which includes Pittsburgh.

NomadMania and the Travelers' Century Club, to which I also belong, don't offer much in tangible benefits. But at least for me they act as a guide and a spur to visit as many destinations as I can. For example, I had booked trips this spring and summer that would have gotten me to Oman, Sardinia and Spitzbergen, all on the NM and TCC lists. Unfortunately those trips were cancelled because of the pandemic.

Beyond those lists are places I want to visit because, well, they're there. These include the Altai region of Russia, the Tibesti mountains of Chad; and Macquarie Island. The latter is the only place where Earth's mantle lies above water.

O no, there is even one that has more than the World’s Most Travelled People (always giggle about that name) list? 1281 lol. I always think that the ones that came up with that, have to prove something or so. I just don’t get it.
I mean, I get lists and keeping up your own travel map, list, experience etc. But the lists, even if they mentioned it is based on something, just don’t make much sense. Especially the longer they get. For example The Netherlands has 4 parts but I don’t see where the province of Zeeland should be. South or West? And if it would be based on culture the provinces of North Brabant and Limburg should definately not be listed together. It does not make sense at all.

I know there are many differences within countries and territories and you can make lists as long or short as you wish. But it has to make sense in a way I can understand at least.
