Anyone have a favorite "travel song" that reminds them of travel in general or of a favorite trip they have done in years past?

I use to have a ring tone on a past cell phone singing "leaving on a jet plane....." by Peter, Paul and Mary every time I had an incoming call. Love that song.

How about you?

"I've been Everywhere."

Take you pick whether you like the North American version or the original Australian one.

I know there is one for Great Britain and Ireland. If I'm not mistaken, there is a NZ version too.

There's a couple of lines I love in 'Amelia' by Joni Mitchell (well actually I love the whole song, but this in particular makes me think of travelling):

'I pulled into the Cactus Tree Motel
To shower off the dust
And I slept on the strange pillows of my wanderlust'

I used to have the last line as my motto on Virtual Tourist

Beach Boys, classic Willie and Waylon, some Jimmy Buffett and some Stones, has to make me feel happy and upbeat.

Have you watch this series How I Met Your Mother? There is this one song they always listen in road trips, The Proclaimers I'm gonna be (500 miles), that always put smile in my face :)

One finnish song from Juno brings also always travelling in to my mind, song is called Matkamies. If you listen to it, it might not say anything to you if you don't speak Finnish tough, but the the name Matkamies means Travelling man.

I have this one song stuck to my head everytime I am in the airplane. Lucy in the sky with diamonds from Beatles.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole s Over the rainbow.

Ozzy Osbourne s Mama I'm coming home.

Bob Marley-songs always remind me of an beach somewhere, anywhere, palmtrees and cold beer :)

These just keeps on coming....

Nothing beats driving through the countryside listening to Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. Also, nearly any Strauss waltz reminds me of Vienna. Mahler always makes me long for Europe.

I love that song, I always cry the way he sings it, but I so much want to be in Hawaii when I hear it.

I wouldn't say that I have a travel song as such, but in our first period of long term travel, a year in South America, we seemed to repeatedly hear Hotel California by The Eagles, so that felt like a bit of a travel anthem!

Oh yes, absolutely!

And America's 'Horse with no Mame' always makes me want to go to a desert, and Jackson Browne's 'Take it Easy' to the US Southwest! Also Simon and Garfunkel's 'America' reminds me of all the road-trips we've taken there, even though we usually hire a car rather than travel by Greyhound ;)
