Being a traveler this COVID-19 is haunting me. As I am not able to move outside or to visit the places which are on my list. How do you think that this COVID19 going to affect the travel industry?

We will see, nothing is sure.

It will shrink. We will see airlines, hotels, restaurants and travel agencies disappearing. Mega cruise ships will either severely restricted or banned and I wouldn't be surprised if those places that get overrun with tourists don't start putting quotas on visitor numbers.

Looks like you can add rental car companies to the possible disappearing list. See where Hertz may file Chapter 11 this coming Monday while some may just completely shut down.

We are hanging in there - this summer's reservations have all been cancelled except a few in August. Alot of our business is contingent on the opening of the Canada/US border and I expect that if car rental agencies are going under, we might be the replacement - at least here in Alberta. That'd be a nice perk of these strange times.

I live in a tourism driven town/county and at least three quarters of the major events that happen in our main Resort town have been cancelled for at least the summer. We are losing more than a million US$ if not several because of this stupid virus. How it will affect my town next winter or a year from now, time will tell, but we are guessing much less than normal.

I'm personally not going anywhere except maybe next fall to visit my father in Arizona for a week, even at that, it's a maybe.

In a word, the travel industry will be decimated by the fall-out from the Covid19 virus, the signs are all around, and a worldwide financial recession is expected, the city where I live (Glasgow, Scotland ) is currently like a ghost town with all manner of pedestrian and vehicular restrictions in place, enthusiastically monitored and enforced by police in cars and on bicycles, public transport is still working but on severely curtailed frequencies, buses and trains are operating almost empty of passengers in fear of catching the deadly virus.

It would be inadvisable to make any holiday travel plans anywhere at the moment, you might lose your money if an airline goes bankrupt, several have had to ask for government assistance to remain solvent, and even worse all the pubs are closed!

I had to visit a hospital earlier this week for out-patient surgery, it resembled 'the twilight zone' with ambulatory patients wearing face masks and twitching nervously awaiting their turn for the operating theatre.
