"Benefits to a Pandemic.."

No excuse for finding time to knock off something from the honey do list! (The stuff around the house you usually put off doing!) ;)

I finally finished my blog about our last trip to Paris. The extra time had been great.

We've only been through the airport in Amsterdam so they must like us.

If they want to curb tourism, they might close their "coffee" shops. Those, paired with low-cost flights, may contribute to some of the problems the article mentioned. I've seen enough posts by kids who take cheap flights and state they aren't interested in hotels because they plan to be stoned over the weekend and then go home. I can imagine them doing a bit of littering while there.

Obviously there are some major must-see sights that will always pull tourists and I'm not sure how they get around that. Going off season would be my choice but everyone can't do that and its probably not as pretty in winter without leaves and flowers. You don't want just the Rijksmuseum, you want the charm.

Sometimes it's better not to live in a very popular place. ;)

The flip side is the number of people living in Amsterdam (and elsewhere in the world) who rely on tourism to make their living. There have been job-losses everywhere but many of the rank-and-file in the tourism industry are very low paid and with little hope of seeing a full recovery.

But the environment certainly improves when the masses can't travel.

It is probably the same in Venice and other mobbed destinations.
