Hi

We (2 adults 2 young children) are planning to drive from Bilbao to Fuengirola and have 2 nights for overnight stops.

Where do people recommend we stop? Should we stay 2 nights in one place or 1 night in two different places?

It would be good to get people's suggestions/ experiences.

Thanks

Toledo and Cordoba would be two good suggestions although Cordoba could be a day trip from Fuengirola. Toledo is pretty much a must-see if you haven't been there.

I assume you're arriving on the Portsmouth>Bilbao ferry?

The whole drive takes about 11 hours so with two young children I think it would be best to split it into 3 sections, with two separate overnight stops. Especially as (I assume) you'll be travelling when it's hot.

Although Toledo and Cordoba are both fascinating and well worth visiting imo they're not really ideal for little ones who will probably need to let off steam. You're also likely to have more difficulty with parking in cities.

Perhaps investigate accommodation in smaller cities along the way e.g. Aranjuez and Cuidad Real.....or even in the small towns and villages along the route? Having an opportunity to run around and play (not easy in big cities) will help the children sleep better......

Thanks I’ll take a look at the suggestions. Agree parking needs to be a consideration but trying to find a hotel in the smaller towns is proving tricky

Have you looked at booking.com? Click on Accommodations here on TravellersPoint to go to it. They are very helpful. We use them all the time.
