Travel Forums System Talk Complaint

Is it really allowed to make Brexit related posts like AndF's recent one? Most forums I know ban posts on this divisive subject.

It was a balancing remark to the two previous remain-centric ones.

I think we're generally well-behaved enough here to touch lightly on these topics without getting into a war, but if you'd like my comment removing that's fine by me if the remainer grumbles go too. You don't get to air your EU view without tolerating someone else's.

I didn't air any EU views. I have seen too much animosity on other forums where it has eventually led to strict bans.

The "you" was in general. Two people aired remain-side views, I remarked with a leave-sided view and you complained about mine. Sauce for the goose and all that.

As I'm one of the moderators for the forum this took place on, it wouldn't be proper for me to take any mod action on something I'm involved in so I'll leave it to the other mods or the administrator to handle.

I think this sums it up.

Brexit is clearly a big part of many travellers' lives, so it doesn't make sense to ban discussion of it entirely. Politics is part of life. It can't be avoided.

The act of jumping on a plane could be seen as political. We have had quite a few topics over the years touching on the ethics of travel and I do not see how removing them would be a good thing for our forum.

I actually don't understand any forums that just put a blanket ban on anything political.

But that's their choice. For us, as long as people are respectful, it's fine.
