Hi!
I am travelling into Guatemala in September and aim to make my way down (through most of the countries in the way), to Rio. I have no specific itinerary, but am going to study Spanish in Antigua, Guatemala for the first month, at least.
Anyone else ever done anything similar?
Anyone going to be in any of the countries during this period??
Can anyone suggest a good itinerary?

you have GOT to take a trip to Lago Atitlan. It was one of the most stunning places I stopped at on my travels and you can learn spanish there too. Climb one of the volcanoes, go rock jumping off Santa Cruz & Head to San Pedro and sample the culinary magic at D'noz! Couldnt leave the place for 2 weeks!
oh forgot to metion the wicked weekly market at Panajachel! Best value we found (especially compared to the more touristy Chichicastenango!)
