A little more difficult than I expected ... this was a rather touristy city.

I've been to all of the countries that I suggested earlier, but not very extensively, and This doesn't look familiar. It looks like a fairly major city, so based on places it looks similar to and ruling out places that I have been to, I'm guessing it may be in Hungary. The Cathedral/church photo has a statue which might be King / Saint Ladislaus? The original photo might relate to the various periods of flooding that affected parts of Hungary quite badly.

I too have been to all the countries mentioned (all more than once) but didn't recognise this place. I've found it via research but won't post the answer until Zzlangerhans gives me the go-ahead. :-)

It is Hungary, and no permission is needed to post an answer based on research. I think we are all doing research once a few hours have gone by without the answer. That's most of the fun of the game.

Gyor?

I researched the boatman sculpture. :-)

It is Gyor, a pleasant place to spend a few hours on the road from Bratislava to Budapest. The city lacks any medieval character because its leader torched it completely in the 16th century rather than let it fall into the hands of Turkish invaders.

I would have started by researching the boatman sculpture so I made sure it was not a trivial search before I posted the pic. I couldn't find it unless I included Hungary in the search terms. No one seems to know the significance of the sculpture but it is a popular meeting point. The boatman is buck naked adding to the oddness of the sculpture.

The statue shows the physicist and inventor Ányos Jedlik and his cousin, the poet Gergely Czuczor. Jedlik spent his retirement years in Gyor. Gyor also boasts the inventor of the soda siphon and claims to be the origin of the wine spritzer.

Leics is up.

I didn't need Hungary. It turned up for 'boatman bronze street sculpture' (including a Tripadvisor photo) but I thought I'd wait a while before I chipped in. :-)

Continuing the boatman theme, where did I see these chaps rowing

The rowers are part of the Historiensäule in Koblenz, Germany.
Wikimedia Commons has photos of it, as well as of the girl chasing the ducks.
