I recently traveled on the Empire Builder and the California Zephyr and the sleeper-car attendants provided excellent service, so you should be OK. Because of the pandemic meals also can be served in your room instead of the dining car. The trains aren't full. You can see the passenger load for each train on the Amtrak Web site.
Thank you! Will my scooter fit in the bedroom with little issue? Are they their regular dinning car menu or a modified grab and go meals. I am taking the Silver Meteor from NYC to MIA
Thanks
TY
I don't know about the Silver Meteor but on both the Empire Builder and California Zephyr there were no grab and go meals. There was an assortment of hot dishes for lunch and dinner, sort of like what you would have on a flight but better. There were Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches and muffins. Check the Amtrak Web site. There also is an Amtrak forum so check that out, too. Sorry I won't be able to help more since I just started traveling today in California to visit several national parks.
