Travel Forums System Talk Viewing other blogs?

Is there a link where you can click and see all the blog posts that have been created recently, or today even? I like to read other blogs for fun and to maybe pick up ideas of where I can go....

I've clicked on "blog highlights" and then "europe" and there are very few from 2020.......
Cheers.

There's a mostly hidden page, Travel Blog Entries by Country, which is an entry to all blog entries that have been assigned to being about a country, sorted by date. No guarantee about quality, though - this is including everything, including spam and blogs that are only intended to be viewed by family, rather than a wider audience.

The old RSS feed for all blog entries is also still available. Same comment about that, and this is without any type of filtering on subject/location.

Thanks. I wondered how anyone got to see what all the bloggers produced. Not everyone has the inner Hemingway waiting to burst out but actually seeing blogs is part of the fun of blogging.

That link is a start but it's not sorted in date order, seems random and not even alphabetically ordered. Better than nothing I suppose.

All blog entries for both links appear in chronological order to me. Any deviation from that is because people are free to make up their own publication date to attach to a blog entry (primarily intended to make scheduled publication for the future possible, but frequently used for backdating blog entries as part of a longer travellog), but the ordering is based on actual publication date.

Good thinking. Of course the post date and the actual event date could be different.

Unfortunately blogs are very de-emphasized on Travellerspoint. For me it is the site's biggest flaw, but of course the site has its founders and you have to respect their priorities or look elsewhere. The link Sander provided is the only one but as he said it is filled with stubs and private blogs and I get tired of it very quickly.

There isn't much alternative as many of the platforms are free and are gradually going to the wall as they are no longer profitable. I pay every month to use this site though.

If you find blogs you like here you can then add the writer to your friends list and you'll then get notifications when they publish anything new. Plus there should be a system for featured blogs to show up in your feed, like featured photos, but I have to say that I haven't noticed any for ages now. Perhaps the mods have stopped featuring blog entries?

There are still highlighted blogs but not that many, two in 2020.

The simple ability to see the community's blogs at a glance is what I was asking fir and if it existed.

Yes, I do recognise this is a flaw in the system.

I think the best option right now is to follow specific bloggers. It will fill your home page with their latest blog entries. If you follow enough people you will have a pretty decent list of content to read. Note: it's called "adding them as a friend", but really it is following as reciprocating is not required.

The problem with showing all new blog entries is highlighted by zzlangerhans - there are too many useless ones to make it interesting.

So then it ends up becoming a curation thing - where someone has to manually feature them. We have a few members able to do this, but it is totally dependent on their willingness at the time.
