Is there a way I can save my planned trip to my phone for offline use?

There may be an easier way, but if you go to the print option for your trip plan, you can scan it to your phone if you have a scan app. That would be available offline.

Is there any reason. Google doesn't allow walking options in offline maps?

Like the "olden days" you can reduce the basics of your trip to printed form. Then fold that sheet of paper up and put it in the same place you keep your passport. Or put it in your carry bag, wallet or purse. (I keep my passport in a little pouch to keep it clean and dry. I also keep a reduced size itinerary, flight schedule and some paper money for emergencies in that same pouch.)

Up to you.

When overseas it is NOT a good idea to walk around playing with your phone! It would be easy for some "fleet of foot" thief to grab the phone and run off with it!

  • Also there are many amusing videos of tourists and ordinary people playing with their phones falling in holes, running into poles, falling into pools or water fountains, getting hit by vehicles and simply tripping because they were careless.
