Travel guide contributor how it works?

Travel Forums System Talk Travel guide contributor how it works?

Tried to make some editing on existing travel guides to add missing information. However it looks like the contributor list never updates. I checked the forum and the site and couldn't find out any information regarding how the calculation actually works. Can someone clarify on this? Thanks!

Tried to post the question in the wiki travel guide sub forum but got error so I posted it here.

It's very easy to contribute to and edit the TP travel guides. You simply haven't been on TP long enough to do that.

You've only been a member for 3 days and have only made 4 posts. As people's TP contributions increase (travel map, forum replies, adding photos & travel blogs) they become more 'trusted' (i.e. not a spammer) and more TP functions become available to them e.g. the ability to report posts. That's why some of us show as 'full members', respected members' and 'travel gurus'. We don't know the exact algorithm for determining when someone becomes e.g. a 'full member'.

Hi, Chris
The remedy is very easy: start creating your own travel blogs, and afterwards you can try editing the travel guides.
Take a look at other members' blogs, like mine and - go ahead!

OK, thank you all for the replies, I will take a look for sure.

Contrary to the above replies, the blogs and your other activity on the site should be completely irrelevant for being able to contribute to the travel guide.

You're listed as a contributor on the Waterloo article, so things at least still partly work.

However, it looks like you've also attempted edits to the Toronto Neighbourhoods guide article (as the most notable example of a bug I see with several of your edits), but you aren't listed as a contributor in the right hand column there. There's definitely a bug at play here, but I don't know exactly what it is. Either it's with the calculation of edited characters, or with the comparison tool, or simply with saving what you've written. This'll probably need Peter, the admin of the site, to take a look at.
Could you tell us what exactly you tried to edit there, and if it shows in the article at all, or was somehow discarded?

@Peter: take a look at the history there, and then at the comparison, which doesn't match in any way with number of edited characters (also if you do it per edit), and seems to show no real change at all?

Yeah I tried to finish up the existing wiki article on Toronto neighbourhoods, the content is shown when I visit the page after editing, but seems the calculation for contribution doesn't work at all. I also tried to create a new wiki page (the Waterloo one, will try to finish that later) seems that one works (content is shown and I was listed as the sole contributor).

So I think there might be a bug for editing existing wiki guides.
