Hello, everyone. I am an English teacher and I have just joined the travellerspoint. I love active travelling but can enjoy online travelling likewise. And in my opinion, combining travelling with teaching is greatly beneficial to the world. My mission is to support teachers and students around the world through my unique programs. By the by, a completely new project is about to start pretty soon!

Hi Anna and welcome to the forums.
With regard to what you said about your new program about to start, be aware that we're zero tolerance on promotion, so please don't promote a business here.

Hello, AndyF.
It is great to meet you. It is not meant as a business promotion. This message means to be motivation, inspiration and a call to a collaborative action. If someone comes up with business ideas they are to be discussed outside the forum. My idea is much bigger than a business. :)

>It is not meant as a business promotion.

If that is the case why did you message me (and possibly other members)?

>My name is Anna and I am an English teacher. My mission is to support teachers and students around the world by uniting them. The project I am currently working on can be a win-win for us. Would you like to share your ideas about your being here and future destinations?

My profile, had you bothered to read it, tells you why I am here. If I had I wanted to reply to your post I would have done so.

Frankly, sending messages to members in this way looks very much like promotional spam.

It is great to meet you. It is not meant as a business promotion.

If your purpose in being here is to promote something - anything at all - we want no part of it. No matter how laudable the thing you're trying to promote might be, you're not a neutral party to it, and we have no desire to sift through the grey zone for what is or isn't allowed.

If you're here as a fellow traveller, happy to help other travellers with questions they might have, you'll find us a lovely and welcoming community.
If you insist on trying to skirt our rules on promotional activities, you'll very swiftly find yourself unable to do so any further.

It is nice to meet you, leics2. Far be it from me to offend you. I appreciate you taking time reading both my blogposts and private messages and sincerely apologize for bothering you, I really did not mean to, it is my mistake. I distinguish between forum and private conversations and the pm you quoted here is meant as a friendship-teambuilding on this website, so that we could eventually take a collaborative action together. It is not a business promotion. It is a start up and a small talk before a deeper conversaion on deeper travel topics and collaborative creating new threads for this forum. Thank you for understanding and all the best.
P.S. And my question is about your immediate right now thoughts and not something set in stone that is in your profile description.
(By the way, I have some information about post pandemic traveling but do not share it in order to not be promotional.)

If you're here as a fellow traveller

It is nice to meet you, Sander. Thank you for your response. Being a fellow traveller is the exact purpose of my being here and I really hope to build a friendly and collaborative team of forum and the world contributors. Far be it from me to promote. I am looking for the questions and situations I am best capable of helping with.

You have neither 'met' me nor offended me. It takes far more than random unsolicited contact to offend me.

You sent me (and, I suspect, other members) a private message which made me doubt both your sincerity and your intentions.

>I am looking for the questions and situations I am best capable of helping with.

If you are genuine all you have to do is reply to the forum questions you think you can help with.

Thank you for responding and let us stay POSITIVE!
It is a tourist forum and we are here to create positivity and engagement, are we not?
:)
I am a keen traveler, you can also ask me directly before I come to you and see your question :)

Anna, I also had received, and deleted, a PM from you. I must admit that, as with the TP mates above, I'm baffled by your intentions here. I also notice that you've not filled out your profile so we know almost nothing about you except that you have some sort of "unique programs" you wish to build collaborators for.

Hmm, red flags all over THAT.

Understand that travel forum communities are beaten over the head with advertising spam, surveys, and special-interest this-and-that which usually are of little benefit to anyone but the poster. Spend some time with travel forums and you'll understand why veterans of the genre are short of patience with that sort of thing. Additionally, special-interest sorts usually give little if anything back as far as useful travel assistance.

It's a little cheeky to instruct the community - of which you have no history - on "what we're here for"? Same with "hoping to build a friendly and collaborative team of forum and the world contributors." Many here have been contributing to the TP community for a long time, and others of us had long histories with some since-dismantled sites. Some of us have even met more than virtually. In other words, TP already HAS the sort of "team" you're "hoping to build."

So very kindly, cut us some slack if we're not exactly warm and fuzzy given the circumstances?
