It's fine if you want to travel with leather pants. I pack stuff that is lightweight and reasonably quick to dry, and leather is neither. It's OK to do things differently. Besides, I have to haul my bag around and you don't.

I'm the sort of guy who's shopping.
I bring an empty case and pay for excess and then fill it up... AND... to save weight, I'm posting things home too... That's how much I like to shop where I go, because, to me, ANYTHING, is a souvenir; so I like to buy stuff I'd buy anyway and use day to day at home (like guitar picks/cool guitar strap, for example) or... A big purchase, like a guitar, for example, that I'd add to my collection AND it'll be a souvenir of the trip, but only if I like the guitar. So, in theory it works and I know the cities where all the good guitars are, but... I live/am from one, so... I've always bought my guitars here, I do know where all the cool guitars more or less are, and aren't, and I've not been guitar shopping in another city that has them, but Madrid does, Hong Kong does... Los Angeles, and NYC (I've been to NYC, wasn't guitar shopping when I went though, but I've been to NYC).
I like to come home carrying more stuff than I left with and see if I beat stuff home in the mail, I look for all sorts of things to buy, from things I know I'd use at home to things with the place I've been to to antiques and unique things I look for or may just find and like.

It's not ideal for travelling light, I'd admit, but I do like to buy on my travels.
It's an art really, about stacking and paying and the logistics of getting everything from one place to another.
That reminds me, I need to go suitcase shopping for this trip I've booked.

(I may book more) but I want this trip I've booked to be sweet, I'm going to focus on that right now.

This goes without saying, but, face mask.

I finally found a picture of that hat I loved that I wore to Stoke-On-Trent/Bournmouth.
Bought from the same place I bought my other top hats, this was a cool hat.

This is was a cool hat indeed, and I plan to go hat shopping in Camden for something like this (and leave my top hats at home for Whitby Goth Weekend) as there will be so many top hats in Whitby that day, I'd want to wear something else.
Wow though, I didn't think I had any pictures of that hat, but it was a cool hat.
I'd travel up to Whitby in something like this (but not exactly/who knows what they've got until I go there and shop).
Even if I can't find nothing in Camden, I'd fall a back on to Oxford Street to a cool shop I know there for shades and bandannas, hats and t shirts and things.

Trebor, in forum posts you can only post your own photos that you've uploaded to TP.
