Hi all. I’m considering a Trans Atlantic Voyage. Was wondering about the Sailing conditions. I don’t work well in High Seas. Although the solitude of the Sea captives me. I’m fine in the Caribbean

Sailing experience? Navigation experience? What type of boat do you have? From where to where? What time of year? etc., etc.

Most people thinking about such an undertaking would have the sailing experience and sources to already have such information.

Euforaed, just to be clear, are you thinking about taking a transatlantic cruise on a large ship or trying to navigate your own craft across the ocean?

I've heard of some wild rides in cruise ships on the Atlantic, but then I've been in some rough seas in the Caribbean, North Sea, etc, too. At least inshore there are places to duck in for cover.

I think there's an element of luck required, but you can improve your chances by going in calmer summer months.

Bigger ships are generally more stable, as are those with azipod drives. Choose the cheapest lower deck cabins for stability - the closer you are to the centre of rotation on all three axes, the better. That usually means deck 1 midships inside cabin - the cheapest. I've been in storms where I've slept fine but the people in top deck suites are sleeping in the lounges as they're less exposed.

LOL, I figured you weren't looking to play captain of a wee gig on that (very) big pond but, well, I've learned never to assume anything!

So is your problem motion sickness? Have you ever taken Dramamine or tried a prescription patch? I tried sea bands once and they didn't do squat for me (I have a ridiculously queasy stomach.)
