Hi! Me and my daughter have been backpacking Africa for 10 years. We now have a puppy and want to travel Europe with him! Has anyone experience of this please?

By 'Europe' do you mean the continent of Europe (52 countries) or the European Union (27 countries)?

Requirements vary not only by country but also according to where you're bringing your dog from. Where will you be coming from?

This official link will tell you the requirements for each EU country:

Hi and thank so much for the reply. The link to the info will be hugely useful!! I guess I'd be going for the 52 countries but really, we'll probably get the pup a passport, extra vaccinations and do a little bit of homework and a very loose itinerary, but then do what we usually do.. wing it! We'd probably start by jumping on a ferry from here in the UK, then see how far we can get!

We're looking at heading off January 2022.

As you're starting in the UK all the info you need is here on the official gov website:

https://www.gov.uk/taking-your-pet-abroad

Make sure you allow lots and lots of time to organise the required vet visits, chipping, rabies vaccination and an animal health certificate (the UK is no longer part of the pet passport scheme because of Brexit).

I don't know how easy it would be to get an EU pet passport from a vet once you're actually in the EU but if you can get one organised it would probably be useful.

This is really great thing but according to me Bring your dog to the veterinarian for a checkup before going on an extended trip. Pet carriers like cat carriers and dog crates confine and protect pets during travel.

Hi, just a reminder if flying is involved. Not all animals survive the flight! For some cargo handlers a dog in a crate is just another another piece of luggage to load on a plane.

Google type search will give you links you can look over. Sample search below:

Good luck.
