I would recommend Tanzania , the choices are diverse from Wildlife safaris in world famous National parks/game reserves such as Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater or Nyerere National Park, highest free standing Mountain in the World ( Mount Kilimanjaro),world heritage sites, Rich cultural activities, Nice beaches on Mafia, Pemba or Zanzibar Islands etc. .

My friend Barbara and I agree that our absolute favorite country to visit is India. North, South, East, West, it's all different and amazing. India has a lot to offer beyond the popular tourist itineraries. We search out cultural activities, such as music, dance and arts and crafts. We love hiking its mountains, especially the Himalayas. There's lots of wildlife, including many birds. You'd think that only Africa has elephants, lions and rhinos. India has them, too, and more, including tigers and gibbons.

Also among my favorites: Japan, New Zealand, Australia (especially Tasmania), Argentina (especially Patagonia), Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Sao Tome & Principe, Ghana, Senegal, Ethiopia, Italy, Ukraine, Austria, the U.K., etc.

Most memorable place for adventure: Kamchatka in Russia's Far East for hiking active volcanoes.

Favorite U.S. state: Alaska for its natural beauty, wildlife and glaciers. It truly is the "Last Frontier" among the states.

Yeay - thanks Bob!! It's good to see somebody else suggesting one absolute favourite along with another 15 or so possibles. As Mr Punch would say, "That's the way to do it!".

Let's see what Andyf has to say about that!

There are so many amazing places for very different reasons, so choosing a single place is incredibly difficult.

Given that, I'm going to opt for the place that truly blew my mind both times that I've been there and that I absolutely want to return to. It has stunningly beautiful scenery and wonderful wildlife, but over and above that, it is a place where I genuinely found myself just sitting quietly and feeling totally overwhelmed by the magnificence of the place. People use the word awesome all the time and I almost never do as it rarely applies, but I genuinely was in awe of this place. So ... Antarctica.

As I've picked somewhere rather less accessible, I hope I can be forgiven for adding a second option. In which case I think it has to be Argentina, which I really think has something for most people. There is a huge variety in the country with some really beautiful places such as Patagonia, the Perito Moreno Glacier, Iguazu, and the many national parks with lakes, mountains and rock formations. There is a wealth of interesting history, both older and more recent, a strong culture, some great architecture, amazing food and drink to be had and Buenos Aires is right up on my list of favourite cities.
