Hi,
Im planning a short 2 month trip to South America at the beginning of January next year, starting in Colombia, and need help deciding where to go here as i only have 1 month. As i am independently studying for a Spanish A-level i have to revise and do my lessons at least 5 hours 5 days a week, or 6-7 hours 4 days, so what i’m thinking of doing is travelling to a quieter, less touristy place with nice little cafes to do my work in, maybe a beach town? But not so quiet that there are no other backpackers. This is where i would like to base myself and then the other days im not studying i would travel around a bit more, of that make sense?
Let me know if you have any recommendations for this please:)
Im also going to Ecuador for 3 weeks ( 1 week on the Galapagos islands) so any recommendations for the other 2 weeks would be great thank you

If you have a two month trip, I suggest that you limit your time to two or three countries, and you already have two - Colombia and Ecuador. If you wanted to add a third country I might suggest Peru

The only places I've been in Colombia are Santa Marta and San Andres Island. San Andres is a place where local people go for vacay with cafes etc where you might go to study but it isn't exclusively Spanish speaking.

Other than the Galapagos (where you will need a negative PCR Covid test), I have only been to Quito, Manta and Guayaquil in Ecuador. Quito is worth several days. Manta was not a very touristy destination when I was there. I think it has beaches, but I have very little interest in beaches. I am not a fan of Guayaquil but it has a lot of tourist attractions, a boardwalk etc.

I'd allow 2 months for Peru (certainly absolute minimum 1 month).
