I need testers for a new Travellerspoint Chrome Extension

Travel Forums System Talk I need testers for a new Travellerspoint Chrome Extension

I've been working on a new Chrome Extension for Travellerspoint. This is to replace the Bookmarklet that currently is tied to the planner and sometimes works ok, but also sometimes has issues. Building it as a browser extension will reduce a lot of those issues and allow it to be a whole lot more stable.

The Chrome Extension will allow you to bookmark URLs from other sites to your trips on Travellerspoint and add notes to those bookmarks.

If you have used the bookmarklet in the past, or are likely to want to use something like this Chrome Extension in the future, I'd love to let you have an early go at it before publishing it for everyone. I should have a sufficiently functioning version by the end of this week though.

Also curious to know from anyone who used the bookmarklet in the past and just found it lacking in some way.

The old version would not allow you have the same book mark more than once in the same trip. For example, if you had the same hotel at the start and the end of your trip, attempting to add the same link to the second day would remove it from the first day.

Good point. I'll fix that issue!

Do you think it should also know whether you've already added a bookmark to a stop? Right now, it would just ignore subsequent attempts, but possibly it could say something along the lines of "You have already added this bookmark to this stop" and maybe even allow you to edit the note attached to that bookmark.

I think I'll also add an option to add tags to bookmarks, so you can categorise them into groups like "Accommodation" or "Food" etc.

There should only be a warning if you are duplicating the bookmark on the same stop. Adding it to another stop (even if it is a repeat of the first stop but on a different day) is okay.

The tags are a good idea.

I just joined Travellerspoint today, but I would be interested in your Chrome Extension

Ok awesome! I've submitted a first version to the chrome store. It's awaiting a review which should hopefully not take more than a couple of days. Once that's up you'll be able to install it and test it out :)

I haven't added in the tagging yet. I'll probably hold off on that until I've made updates to the Planner to be able to make use of the info. I did fix the issue with not being able to add the same bookmark to multiple stops on the same trip.

Will it work with other browsers?
My default is Mozilla Firefox.
Thanks,

I'm just making it for Chrome now, but it's hopefully not going to be too hard to convert it. I think there are even Firefox extensions that enable you to use Chrome extensions. But I've never tried one so perhaps some searching is on order

It will also work in other Chromium browsers like Brave Browser (my preferred browser) and Edge.

The extension is now up on the Chrome Webstore. Would love to know how it works for you all!

Travellerspoint Trip Planner Extension

I haven't set it to be searchable in the store yet and I'm not linking it to it from the planner here on TP just yet. I'll wait for a little feedback to see if there are any issues that need resolving.
