I've got plans to work on a major overhaul of the Planner to bring it up to scratch with the mapping interface and also add a lot more utility to it. Some key things I want to improve:

1. Add a calendar view that allows you to see a trip plan broken down by day
2. Ensure it is mobile friendly
3. Add some budgeting options to allow people to keep track of expenses.
4. Add a to-do list
5. Possible integration with the TripIt API to streamline some of it.

I've started this thread to open a general discussion on what to add.

Aside from the features above, is there anything you would really like to see from an updated travel planner?

Hi Peter,

Exchange rates. These should be displayed in terms of the "home" currency. For example my home currency is New Zealand dollars (NZD) and if I am planning a trip to Korea, it should show it as NZD 1 = Korean Won 825, not the other way around as KRW 1 = NZD 0.001212. Or maybe an option to switch the display if this is useful to the user.

The budget could have columns for both currencies. For example, if my hotel is costing 150,000 Won, then it should also show a column for the home value of $NZD181.80. The home currency column needs a total as well. The "away" currency does not, especially if there are multiple "away" currencies.

Cheers,
Glynn

The to do list would need to be on both an overall trip basis and on a per stop basis. Each stop will have things to organise:

Day 5 in Moscow
book hotel
Tickets Bolshoi Theatre.
book tickets for the Kremlin Museum.
