I'm a 27 years old Swedish female environmental engineer (I just love saying that!!! Two months ago I was still just a "student"), working right now but simultaneously planning an awesome S.A. trip of AT LEAST 6 months...!!!
Me and my boyfriend will leave Europe 1st of September and head off to Caracas, Venezuela. After a couple of weeks there (probably by the East coast and in Merida) we'll fly to Quito, Ecuador. Approximately, our plan is:
September: Venezuela.
October: Ecuador.
November - mid December: Peru and Bolivia.
mid December - mid February: Chile and Argentina, mostly Patagonia.
end February: Buenos Aires.
March: Uruguay and Rio, Brazil.
Though, it's VERY likely to change...
Anyway, anyone is welcome to contact me anytime. Cheers//Susanna

I know this is meant to only be a list of people going to Latin America, but this thread is a bit more detailed.
I am wondering who is going to be in Latin America over Christmas and New Years this year, 2005/06. And where abouts they are going to be.
Also, anyone who has in the past spent either Christmas or New Years in Central America, please let me know of any place that is a pretty cool place to spend either of these celebrations. I am most likely to be in either Honduras or Nicaragua for Xmas and Nicaragua, Costa Rica or Panama for New Year Eve. Would like to know of places with numerous travellers and possibly somewhere for New Years with large celebrations and an international music scene.
Any info or reply would be grately appreciated.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Alex

Hi Alex
I've been in Costa Rica for Christmas and New Year.
I spent NY Eve in the Monteverde Cloud Forest, after a days exhilarating horse riding to get there.
The actual town was quite small but lively. We found a bar run by an exiled Cuban woman, We had a great party with free mojitos and funky Cuban/Latin music. I have a hazy memory of joining the band as guest percussion player at some point in the proceedings!.
Christmas Day was spent rafting down the Pacure River. A great alternative to eating too much and vegging out in front of the TV watching the Queens speech!
