Beaches for long term stay with family.

Hi.

Looking for a specific kind of family friendly beach... a few years ago we took our two small kids (8 month old and a 3 year old) to Padnem in Goa for a month, and it was the best holiday ever and now I was hoping someone could give recommendations on similar places. I think what was special about Padnem was that it had a really friendly long-term traveler vibe. There were other families staying there for up to six months long, on the beach you would meet the same people day-in day-out and really get to chat with them, that is probably the main thing we are looking for. The second thing was that it it felt like we were much more in the village and we would chat with the same locals every day for an age, no hassles, just super friendly, not some pure tourist resort.

We would like to go back in August for 6 weeks or so, but it is Monsoon. So any tips for similar places?

If you liked Goa, you might consider Sri Lanka’s north and east coasts. In those areas the monsoon season generally is over between May and September. Sri Lanka has tourist visas, usually valid for 30 days, with up to two extensions.

Thanks, good idea, I have fond memories of Arugam bay, amazing food and waves, maybe there were families too, but I was not looking out for them back then. Could be an idea to start from about there and just make our way up the coast and see what we find.

On a side note, went to the south coast of Sri Lanka in the monsoon, very, very wet but was interesting to see the difference to the tourist season.
