Hi,
Has anyone been at Doha and/or Kuala Lumpur International Airport recently for international transits, if so what were your experiences?
I'm hoping to confirm that the upcoming flights I've booked are OK with current Covid-19 restrictions. I'm a young solo traveller and feeling very nervous due to the changes Omicron is causing and would appreciate any help. I want to avoid having to quarantine unexpectedly, or anything along those lines.
I've booked a flight 31/01/2022 from Norway - Doha - Kuala Lumpur - Australia. Each stop has a layover of a few hours. It's one ticket booked directly with Qatar Airlines. I've received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine. I have a valid visa to enter Australia. It seems each airport is open for international transit from the research I've done, although it's difficult to find detailed information. So I'm scared I might have missed something.
I originally had a flight booked from Norway - Amsterdam - Singapore - Melbourne. My flight from Amsterdam to Singapore was a VTL (Vaccinated Travel Lane) flight in order to prevent having to quarantine in Singapore. But I then found out Norway is a non-VTL country, for whatever reason. Even though Norway would only be a transit country, it still made me inegible for the VTL flight and I would have had to quarantine in Singapore. According to the Singapore government website: "if you were in a non-VTL (Air) and non-Category I country/region at any point within the past 14 days, you will not be eligible for the VTL (Air)." So I ended up cancelling this flight - and now really just want to avoid further complications and prepare for a smooth journey, as much as I can.
If anyone has been in Doha and Kuala Lumpur recently for international transit and has any tips or advice, please let me know!
Thanks so much,
Suzanne
