I'm due to fly from Manchester to Tel-aviv on 17th May 2022 and have a self transfer flight via Brussels Charleroi Airport with ryanair. Does anyone know how long it takes to check out of Brussels Charleroi Airport because I land at 9:35 and need to check in to my next flight at 11:00am. I have checked and there will be 3 other planes landing at the same time as us but they are from EU countries. Considering all this does anyone know approximately how long it will take us to check out of customs/border control (we only have hand luggage as well). I am really nervous if we have enough time, thanks

I'm going to assume that you are a UK citizen.

No-one here or anywhere else can tell you exactly how long it will take you to deplane, get to and through Border Control then get to and through security to your boarding gate.

Your post isn't very clear but it seems you are flying Ryanair to Tel Aviv? All Ryanair passengers should check in online. If you check in at the airport you will be charged 55 GBP or 55 euro. If you've booked this flight through a third-party agency you won't be able to check-in online so you must check-in at Charleroi and pay the extra charge.

As far as I can see Ryanair flies Charleroi > Tel Aviv at 1215, so check in/bag drop will close at 1130 and boarding will close at 1155. I'm not sure why you said 11am?

Will you have to change terminals?

If you check in online for the Tel Aviv flight you've got 2+ hours to get to the gate, enough time to deplane, get to and through Border Control and get to the Ryanair check-in desk/bag drop.

If you really have to check-in at 11am you've only got 1h 25m. That's pretty tight but, assuming you're arriving at and leaving from the same terminal and are lucky with the border control and security queues, you should be able to make it.

Hi leics2,

Thank you for your response much appreciated.

I am a British citizen and yes both of my flights are Ryanair.

I have doubled checked and I land at Charleroi airport at 9:35 and my flight to Tel-aviv departs at 12:30 with check closing at 11:30.

Therefore should I have plenty of time to get off the flight and get through border control in time for my next flight?

Thanks

Those times make much more sense.

You say you only have hand luggage. If you check in online for the Tel Aviv flight the check-in/bag drop closing time does not affect you. You don't need to go to the Tel Aviv bag drop/check-in desk at all. You can just go straight through security and to the gate.

[/b] What matters is the boarding time. Ryanair closes boarding 20 minutes before departure so you must be at the Tel Aviv gate well before 1210.

Bag drop/check in closing time only matters if either a) you have checked/holdbaggage or b) you need to check in at Charleroi (which will cost you 55 euro).

You'll have almost 2 hours to deplane, get to and through Border Control, get to and through security and to your Tel Aviv gate. As long as there are no inbound delays...and as long as you don't have to check in at Charleroi... you should have plenty of time.

The official airport website below tells you how to transit Charleroi. Click 'I am travelling with checked luggage and/or from a non-Schengen Area'.

That's great, I have checked in online for both of my flights and have printed my boarding passes. I will only have my hand luggage therefore does that means at both airports (manchester and Tel-aviv) I don't need to go to the checkin desks, I can go straight to security, where will they check my PCR test, Vaccine certificates etc. Thanks

Good point...I hadn't thought about your PCR & vaccine documentation.

Ryanair's website is as clear as mud about exactly *when* that documentation is checked. It certainly won't be done at security in the UK or Belgium. Secvurity staff are concerned with security, not with whether a passenger has the correct documentation to fly to a destination. That's the airline's business (airlines can be fined if a passenger doesn't have e.g. the correct visa).

Given Ryanair's policy of online check-in it's possible that your Covid-related documentation will be checked at the gate.

You could spend ages on the phone to Ryanair to ask them or, if you live near enough, you could pop into Manchester airport and ask them there. Otherwise, I suggest you get to Manchester well before your UK>Charleroi flight departure time and ask at the Ryanair bagdrop.

Imo, it's very likely that whatever Ryanair do in Manchester (e.g. check documents at the gate) they'll do in Charleroi.
