Structured "Table of Contents" page (as well as tags)

Travel Forums System Talk Structured "Table of Contents" page (as well as tags)

Hi there

I'm going to have a number of purposes for my (quite long) trip (business and pleasure), and audiences that will be attracted to different aspects.

It seems the only way I curently have available is to use TAGS to organise my posts?

I'm thinking it would be helpful to ALSO have a way to assign posts to CATEGORIES, or a structured Table of Contents.

It seems that the ToC is just a flat list of blog entries that I can sort by Title or Date.

So maybe like an Expand / Collapse list per Category.

Tags would still be very helpful; but as a secondary / cross-reference feature

Thanks
Marc

Hi Marc. Check the blog templates. The one I use has a Table of Contents that lists titles. That would make it easy to pick what you wanted from all the other entries.

You also have Tags on each entry. You can find anything with Tags. Just type the tag into your search and you get all the tags on that subject/category.

The idea with tags is that they allow you the most freedom. How do you imagine "categories" to work? Whatever it is, the same should really be possible with tags as well; just be structured with assigning them to your blog posts.

An alternative you can consider is running two blogs, one for business, one for pleasure, and to cross-link between them where necessary.

Finally, you could prefix the title of each blog entry with "business" vs "pleasure", and then sorting the table of contents by title does the same nesting as you want.
