Hi there,

I am heading to the Amalfi Coast in August. Is it worth rebooking ferries? I know it is going to be super busy. I have to get from Amalfi to Capri and then Capri to Sorrento. Are there any ferry companies that are better than others? I will have suitcases with me as we are staying over in Capri (2 med size backpacks on wheels). Thanks so much!

In a word, no.

I assume you mean booking in advance?

Imo, foot passengers don't need to book the Capri>Sorrento ferry. It's a very short journey and there's loads of space for your bags. I very much doubt that the much larger ferry ever becomes so full that foot passengers cannot board but if by some mischance that happens to you crossings are so frequent that waiting for the next one shouldn't be a problem. Remember to factor in commuters: most of the people who work in Capri's tourist industry can't afford to live on the island!

Hydrofoils are more likely to get full than ferries because they have no external deck. If you really want to travel on a hydrofoil I'd book (or buy) a ticket in advance.

I'm a bit more concerned about the Amalfi > Capri ferry. The Amalfi Coast ferries can be smaller craft and daytrips to Capri are very popular. I'd book in advance.Check which company has the best fare for the day/time you want:

In addition to the links Leics has helpfully provided, I'll add this one as it does a good job of consolidating schedules of the different companies. Use the "Departure" and "Arrival" dropdowns to select your desired locations.

Thanks so much. Bearing in mind we are going at absolute peak season I am going to book in advance! And that we have bags.
