Hello,

There used to be a fantastic French website named Petitefot or similar spelling of some sort. It was an amazing source of information about accommodation in Africa. Does anyone remember the correct name and does it still exist?

Many thanks,

DAO

Hi DAO,
I think the website you are looking for is Petit Fute and it does still exist. Sadly the information on my home town here in Botswana is not very comprehensive and seems quite dated. (I'll write something better for Travellerspoint when I get time). The travel scene is constantly changing so it must be hard for travel websites and guidebooks to keep up to date unless they have a very active and committed user community.

Good luck, Graeme

Many thanks! That's the website. I have used it a few times and more than once have found accommodation at 50% of the prices on the big websites (booking.com, etc).

DAOonVT try Logis de France too. They have all price ranges and some are very inexpensive. Most have an excellent restaurant except sometimes the restaurant is much more expensive than the rooms. They are especially good if you go to out-of-the-way places. There seems to be a Logis de France in nearly every small town in France, often in a historic village and usually family owned.
