My name is Matt. We are planning a vacation this time that will be different from what we usually do, which is a road trip from Paris to Rome by car, starting from Paris on December 27th. I am 36 years old. Despite being 38 years old, my husband's physical age is much younger than mine.
A Road trip holiday for the first time. Any suggestions for
A lot depends on how much time is allotted. There are many routes and you can only take one. I would avoid crossing the Alps in winter so you might want to drive down to the Côte d’Azur then head east to Milan or Florence before resuming south direction to Rome. As long as there is no heavy snow avoid using GPS or Google Maps which will take you onto boring highways. Plan routes on smaller roads which will take you through scenic landscape and small towns. Try not to move every single day. Two or three day stays in places like Nice or Florence are preferable. Don’t go below a quarter tank of gas. Gas stations in France and Italy are sometimes weird about payment especially at night.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it. Sure I think the local one can guide more routes on smaller roads . We definitely avoid driving at night.
When you are using GPS and you are directed to use a bridge or trail - don't do it if it doesn't look right!

Trust your eyeballs over the GPS!
It has been too long since I drove in Europe. Cover your butt and make sure you have proper insurance in case of accidents. Also have medical insurance to cover you overseas.
Have an IDP. International Driving Permit. Look this up on the web.
Make sure your hotel has safe parking.
Good luck.
Thank you so much for sharing such information. Yes, we are collecting all the documents required while traveling.
I am preparing the checklist and will soon share it here for people to review.
just want to know do we need to hire any local guide in Rome Or take any service from the local guide .. Actually, we want to see the traditional culture of Rome..So, I think local eyes can explore better from us.
I'm sure this trip will be unforgettable! You can take a short cut through Milan and Florence, but if you want to get into the spirit of France and Italy, a trip along the coast is the best option.
You can go down to Nice then through Menton and Monaco head to Genoa. By the way, in the city of Menton there is a restaurant Mizarur - one of the best restourant in the world with 3 Michelin stars. Also Monaco is very unic and interesting to visit.
About Paris and Rom I share more in my blog
