Hi everyone! What places in uk would you recommend that arent like too costly? Looking for a mix of nice nature and acess to city as well. I will have a budget of like 1000 euro. How many days would this last me? If possible i will aim for travel in may.

Thanks :)

Depending whether you use budget accommodation or more lavish, I think 1000 euro is a week to ten days.

For a mix of nature and interesting cities, maybe look at the Lake District, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and a trip round the West Highlands.

Unfortunately, the UK is a very expensive country, including for accommodation, food and public transport.

I'd agree that 1000 euro isn't going to last you much more than a week.

Alternatives to Andy's suggestion above:

1. Newcastle-on-Tyne for the city plus walking in and around Hadrian's Wall (Hexham is a good base for that, easy train from Newcastle) and along the beautiful Northumberland coast (using the excellent bus services X15 or X20 bus from Newcastle). The wild Northumberland landscape is stunning, there are and lots of historical sites & sights in the local area and Newcastle is a really friendly party city!

2. Liverpool or Chester for the city plus the North Wales coast for landscape and walking (castles, mountains, beaches, history). Easy by train and/or bus.

3. Northern Ireland. Base yourself in Belfast and use bus to explore the beautiful coast and countryside. Loads to see and do, lots of history, beautiful landscapes (Causeway Coast, Mourne mountains, the Sperrins) and friendly people. There are good bus services serving rural areas as well as towns and villages.

Hm ok so 1 week maximum with 1000 euro?

Camping is good - the major cost is accommodation, so camping will stretch your budget much further.

Staying north keeps most costs down. Which includes all Leics2's suggestions.

Northumberland is not only beautiful it gets far fewer visitors than most other beautiful parts of the UK (and there are many beautiful parts!).

All UK land is owned by someone so 'wild camping' (not on a campsite) can be difficult because you must have the landowner's permission. But there are lots of campsites in Northumberland (and elsewhere) and the ightly rate can be very good value. Have a look at these sites for ideas:

There's more info/sites if you google 'northumberland camping' or 'northumberland wild camping'.

It's a pretty active forum but I've no idea how likely it is that you'd find a UK travelling companion.

The best idea is to post on as many sites as you can including e.g. Facebook pages for where you live and other places in your country. :-)
