How to shower when camping

2. Posted by leics2 (Travel Guru 5321 posts) 4w Star this if you like it!

1. Use the campsite shower block.

2. Buy a camping shower....or make your own (pretty simple).

3. Just wash all over using your hands, soap and water.

4. Stand under a waterfall.

5. Stand in the rain.

PS Don't bother posting a link to camping showers. It'll quickly be removed.

A lot will depend on the type of camping you are doing.

If wild camping depends where (e.g. subject to safety considerations, there might be a lake/loch nearby or a river). Failing that depends how much water you are carrying (given drinking & cooking will take priority over washing) - use a wet cloth to wash. If you take wet wipes, make 110% sure you carry them out (as per all "Leave no trace") but wet wipes are pretty environmentally unfriendly even when disposed of responsibly.

If using a shelter e.g. Danish primitiv overnatningsplads, lejrplads or fri teltning) they will sometimes have a water supply (tap).

If Europe/UK most campsites will have a shower block though sometimes there is an additional charge for the showers. Most but I have stayed at a UK campsite thathad a toilet block but no showers, only washing facilities were hand basins in the toilets.
