Dear Travellers,
I have a stupid question and was wondering if anyone could please give me some advise?

We will be traveling to Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia in August. We’ve noticed that we have a few novelty stamps when we visited Machu Pichu, Lake Titicaca and some UNESCO sights in South Korea. Would it be a good idea to replace our US passports? Should we risk it and not worry about it?

Greatly appreciate your comments!

Hello.

For my country, US, the recommendation is to get a new passport.

Copy below from this link:

"The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to avoid the use of novelty stamps in the U.S. passport. The Department could potentially consider novelty stamps as 'damage' to the U.S. passport," a State Department official told Travel + Leisure.

Do you feel lucky?

  • Thinking back, I may have a "novelty stamp" in one of my old passports.

If your passport is close to its expiration get another one is the safe way.
