All I can see in the photos are some red bluffs (whether from red rocks or a red sun on regular rocks) and a road. It looks like the pictures I took from a cruise ship in Kimberly. The colors are about the same. But I know almost nothing about the Australian interior.
Yes it is a bit featureless unless you happen to know that kink in the hills.

And though it was truly beautiful there, it was nigh on impossible to photograph in greater detail.
The rock face is red, illuminated by the early morning sun as well.
And it's a long way from the coast. I'll try to think of some pics which might give further clues.
